Ledgering For Carp

Basic safety rig

This basic safety rig is suitable for all carp large or small see image one.

 You will need:

 

        1. Tail rubber (come in various colours, match to the lake or river bed)

        2. Safety lead clip (as above match colours)

        3. Ledger (many sizes and shapes see ledgers)

        4. Swivel (size 8 normally, to slot into lead clip)

        5. Quick link (various styles see quick links)

        6. Hook link material (many variations see hook link material)

        7. Hook (again many variations see hooks)

        8. Ready made rig (replace 6, 7 with a ready made rig see ready made rigs)

        9. Mainline (between 8lb and 12lb see mainlines)

 

Take a tail rubber and pass your mainline through from the narrow end first. Next take a safety lead clip and pass your line through from the narrow end. Next tie a size 8 swivel to the end of your mainline with a Blood or Palomar knot.

Then attach the quick link of your hook link to the swivel. Attach a ledger to the safety lead clip by sliding the eye of the ledger swivel onto the leg and slide the tail rubber down onto the clip. Lastly gently pull on the mainline so the swivel locks in the safety clip see image two.

 

There are many many variations and adaptations on this rig to follow in the future.

You will need:

 

        1. Tail rubber (come in various colours, match to the lake or river bed)

        2. Safety lead clip (as above match colours)

        4. Swivel (size 8 normally, to slot into lead clip)

        5. Quick link (various styles see quick links)

        6. Hook link material (many variations see hook link material)

        7. Hook (again many variations see hooks)

        8. Ready made rig (replace 6, 7 with a ready made rig see ready made rigs)

        9. Rig putty, popup weights or split shot.

      10. Mainline (between 8lb and 12lb see mainlines)

 

Take a tail rubber and pass your mainline through from the narrow end first. Next take a safety lead clip and pass your line through from the narrow end. Next tie a size 8 swivel to the end of your mainline with a Blood or Palomar knot.

Then attach the quick link of your hook link to the swivel. Attach a ledger to the safety lead clip by sliding the eye of the ledger swivel onto the leg and slide the tail rubber down onto the clip. Then gently pull on the mainline so the swivel locks in the safety clip see image two. Place a piece of rig putty, a popup weight or split shot on your hook link at about two inches from the hook, but make this longer or shorter if your not getting bites. Lastly attach your buoyant bait, see baiting a hair rig .
